1. Inventory Stock movement

As a Stock manager/Production planner of a company, I would like to manage the material/items available at different locations of the company, either for production or for product assembly or available for sale at another location, so that I manage the stock effectively and optimally.

The Inventory Stock Movement module of Hal ERP serves the purpose of moving the stock from one location to another location.

The inventory Stock movement could be carried out in three ways

  • With reference to a Purchase Request
  • With reference to a Work Order
  • With No reference

1.1 Stock Movement with no reference

The Stock items may have to be shifted from one location to another for storage / optimizing logistics or for various other reasons from time to time.

In such a case, we can initiate the stock movement without any reference to a Purchase request/Work order as given in the screenshot below.

1.2 Stock Movement with reference to a Purchase request

As a Stock manager, when I receive a sales order of an item that is unavailable at the current location and available at a different location, then I would raise a purchase request to transfer the material from that location to the location where the sales order has been received.

In Hal ERP, Create a transaction to move the stock from the available location to the required location against the purchase request raised as shown in the screens shot below.

When a reference transaction number such as a Purchase Request reference number is selected, the items added in the particular Purchase request will be auto-populated in the grid. The user can then choose to select a location to which the items are to be transferred.

Transit Location

During the transaction of moving stock from one location to another location, there can be times when the items may get damaged on the way, or perhaps for better quality control, the stocks need to be checked at destination before receipt. Under such circumstances, it is a preferred practice to move items to a transit store such as 'in vehicle' and then receive the stock after due checking.

In Hal ERP, this scenario is covered when a user could choose a Transit location where the goods could be parked temporarily before moving to the final location.

In the screenshot below, the materials are to be transferred from "Store" to "Al rehab" with a transit location "In-vehicle".

Once the stock movement transaction is created in the ERP, the stock is moved from “Store" to "In-vehicle" which is the transit location and the transfer status field shows that the stock is In Transit.

And when the stock has to be moved from the transit location to the final destination, in the EDIT mode of the transaction, SAVE the transaction and the stock will be moved from the transit location to the final location.

In the screenshot below, now the transfer status shows Done and the stock has moved to the final destination which is Al-Rehab.

Currently, in Hal ERP, the Transit Location option is available for Stock movement without reference and Stock Movement with reference to Purchase requests.

1.3 Stock Movement with reference to a Work Order

As a production planner, during the course of planning a production, I might have to move some material from a location to the manufacturing floor for production or for assembly and return the material in case of the materials being excess.

And once the production is done, the finished goods have to be moved from the manufacturing unit to the warehouse/store.

In Hal ERP, the stock movement with reference to a work order covers these three options

  • Moving the material to the Manufacturing floor (Material Issue)
  • Moving excess material from Manufacturing floor (Material Return)
  • Moving Finished Goods from Manufacturing floor (Finished Goods)

Material Issue

As a production planner, I have to move materials from one location to the manufacturing floor for production/assembly.

The Material issue Manufacture option in the Inventory Stock movement module is used to move the material from any location to store (considering ‘store’ as the manufacturing floor’)

And this option can be executed only when the Work order status is still in progress.

    Material Return

The excess material on the manufacturing floor is returned back to the warehouse or to any location for storage.

The Material return Manufacture option in the Inventory Stock movement module is used to move the material from Store to any location (considering ‘store’ as the manufacturing floor’)

And this option can be executed when the Work order status is still in progress and also when it is completed.

Finished Goods

Once the items are produced/assembled on the manufacturing floor, the finished goods are to be transferred from the floor to any location for storage or to be sold.

The Finished Goods Manufacture option in the Inventory Stock movement module is used to move the material from Store to any location (considering ‘store’ as the manufacturing floor’)

And this option can be executed only when the Work order status is completed.
